'En face de' is equivalent to
the English prepositions 'opposite' or 'across from'. It can also
be used more figuratively to mean something similar to 'facing',
'confronting', or 'confronted with':

| The man who lives opposite me sleeps until 11 o' clock each morning. |

| The law school is located opposite the prison. |

· en face de is a compound preposition: don't forget to include the 'en' and the 'de'. · when followed by a masculine or plural article, 'de' will contract into 'du' (de + le) or 'des' (de + les):
