Speaking Practice Task

Instructions

This 3-step speaking practice activity will help you to evaluate how well you can use the language you are studying in a communicative context. It lasts about 12 minutes.

A specific task is presented in each step. After learning about the task, you will have a short time to think about your response. Then you will hear a tone. After you hear the tone, begin speaking! Instructions will let you know how much time you have to speak.

A second tone will alert you when you have 10 seconds left to speak. Don't stop speaking when you hear that tone! Stop when you hear a final tone. You will be instructed when to move on to the next step.

This is a proficiency activity. This means that you should say as much as you can about the topic within the given time. You do not need to respond truthfully to each situation. Feel free to use your imagination. Remember to:

Trust yourself, and start with what is most comfortable.

Speak clearly and say as much as you can.

Show what you can do.

WAIT until you are instructed before advancing to the next step.
