Essential Instructions

Format a Card
  1. From Stop, press and hold the DISPLAY button for 3 seconds.
  2. Press the VOL+ or VOL- button to select Utility Menu. Then press the ENTER button.
  3. Press the VOL+ or VOL- button to select Card Format. Then press the ENTER button.
    • Card Format? message is displayed.
  4. While Card Format? message is displayed, select Yes and press the ENTER button to format the SD card.
Change Record Settings
  1. From Stop, press and hold the DISPLAY button for 3 seconds.
  2. Press the VOL+ or VOL- button to select Preset Menu. Then press the ENTER button.
  3. Press the VOL+ or VOL- button to select Preset MP3 Mono, MP3 Stereo or Wave Man.
    • Select Preset - MP3 Mono - for Mono MP3 files
    • Select Preset - MP3 Stereo - for Stereo MP3 files
    • Select Preset - Wave Man - for CD quality Wav files
  4. Press the ENTER button to accept the selected Preset.
  5. Press the DISPLAY button to store the changes.
Start Recording
  1. Slide and hold the POWER switch to turn on.
  2. Press the REC button to begin recording.
    • The Rec indicator will be steadily lit while recording.
  3. Press the REC PAUSE button to pause recording.
  4. Press the STOP/CANCEL button to stop recording and close the audio file.
Playback
  1. Slide and hold the POWER switch to turn on.
  2. Press the << or >> button to choose the file.
  3. Press the ENTER button to begin playback.
  4. Press the STOP/CANCEL button to stop playback.

Essential Instructions

Format a Card
  1. From Stop, press and hold the SHIFT button then push the MENU/STORE EDIT button.
    • Trk Erase will appear in the display.
  2. Press the << or >> button until Format is displayed.
  3. Press the ENTER button.
    • The Display switches to OK? flashing.
  4. Press the ENTER button.
    • Executing will be displayed until Format is finished.
    • Then Completed will be displayed and the recorder will return to stop mode.
Change Record Settings
  1. From Stop, push the MENU/STORE EDIT button.
  2. Press the << or >> button to choose the Preset number.
    • Select Preset 1 for Mono MP3 files using internal mike and ALC
    • Select Preset 2 for uncompressed stereo WAV files using internal mike and ALC
    • Select Preset 3 for uncompressed stereo WAV files using external mike and manual record level
  3. Press the MENU/STORE EDIT button to store your selection.
Start Recording
  1. Slide the POWER switch to ON.
  2. Press the REC button to begin recording.
    • The Rec indicator will be steadily lit while recording.
  3. Press the REC PAUSE button to pause recording.
  4. Press the STOP/CANCEL button to stop recording and end the track (close the audio file).
Playback
  1. Slide the POWER switch to ON.
  2. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to begin playback.
    • The PLAY indicator will be steadily lit while in playback mode.
  3. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button again to pause playback.
  4. Press the STOP/CANCEL button to stop playback.

Essential Instructions

Format a Card
  1. From Stop, press and hold the MARK/EDIT button for about 2 seconds to enter Edit mode.
    • Renumber will flash in the display.
  2. While the display is flashing (5 seconds) press and release the MARK/EDIT button four more times.
    • FORMAT will flash in the display.
  3. While FORMAT is flashing (5 seconds) press and release the ENTER button.
    • FORMAT OK? will flash in the display.
  4. While FORMAT OK? is flashing, press and release the ENTER button to confirm.
    • EXECUTING will be displayed momentarily.
    • Done will be displayed momentarily.
    • Recorder returns to stop mode and BlankCard will be displayed.
Change Record Settings

Record settings are affected by the input you choose. In most cases you will select Int Mic which will create a Mono file. Through the Menu, change the Algorithm/File parameters to record at a lower or higher quality.

  1. From Stop, press and hold the MENU button for about 2 seconds.
    • Menu will appear (flashing) in the display.
  2. While Menu is flashing (for about 3 seconds) press and release the ENTER button.
    • The Date/Time Menu choice, or the last menu choice, will appear.
  3. Press and release the FWD/+ button repeatedly until Algor/File is flashing.
  4. Press and release the ENTER button.
    • Now you can choose whether to change record settings for either Stereo or Mono files.
  5. Press and release the FWD/+ button or the -/REW button to tab to either Mono or Stereo.
    • If recording with internal mike, tab to Mono.
  6. Press and release the ENTER button to set your choice. (mono or stereo)
  7. Press and release the FWD/+ or -/REW to select your file type.
    • PCM for .wav/.bwf uncompressed file
    • MP2 for .mpg/.bwf compressed file
    • MP3 for .mp3/.bwf more highly compressed file
      • Select this option for most recordings
  8. Press and release the ENTER button to accept your file type
  9. Press and release the FWD/+ button or the -/REW button to tab to your sample frequency choice.
    • 44.10 is the recommended sample frequency.
  10. Press and release the ENTER button to accept this setting.
  11. Press and release the FWD/+ button or the -/REW button to tab to your bit rate choice.
    • 128 is the recommended bit rate.
    • If you have selected PCM as your file type, you won't set this option
  12. Press and release the ENTER button to accept this setting.
  13. Press and release the FWD/+ button or the -/REW button to tab to your file format choice.
    • If you have selected MP3 as your file type, select MP3.
    • If you have selected PCM as your file type, select WAV.
  14. Press and release the ENTER button to accept this setting.
    • Algor/File is blinking.
  15. Press and release the MENU/STORE button to save your changes and exit the menu.
    • Stored is displayed briefly.
  16. The display returns to stop mode and you're done!
